The menopause in particular, because of the hormonal imbalances it causes, is an event which can turn the skin greasy.
This type of skin can display imperfections such as:
Imperfections linked to oily skin
The appearance of imperfections starts with the accumulation of sebum in the skin’s pores. A blackhead or whitehead can form. It can then be invaded by bacteria, causing a little localised infection, the start of a spot. These are defined as:
- Blackheads, which are found at the surface of the skin and which are easily recognisable by their black colour.
- Whiteheads, which appear in relief and are lightly red on the surface.
- Spots, little lesions, inflamed because of the proliferation of a bacteria which nourishes itself on sebum. When there is inflammation, the spots become red or white.
Special case: Rosacea fulminans
This impressive name denotes the sudden appearance of purulent spots on the nose, cheeks and chin. It is especially occurs in young women who have greasy skin. Be happy then, the high-risk period is behind you!
Secondary problems with oily skin
